Victor Serna

Principal: St. Turibius, Los Angeles
Mr. Victor Serna is a proud graduate of Bishop Mora Salesian High School where he later served as a coach, teacher and administrator before becoming a principal at the elementary school level. He briefly considered a law enforcement career with the California Department of Corrections but his desire to coach led him to a career in education. Mr. Serna began his career at St. Mary’s Elementary School in the Boyle Heights community of Los Angeles. He now serves as the principal of St. Turibius Elementary School. St. Turibius School opened its doors in 1949 and it has proudly served the Fashion District community just southeast of Downtown Los Angeles ever since. St. Turibius School was recently named one of the best schools in the area by Downtown News because of its excellence in academics and athletics. The school serves a student population of 98% Hispanic/Latino and 100% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch.
Mr. Serna holds a BS in Criminal Justice, an MS in Education, an MS in Educational Administration and he is close to completing his third Master’s degree in Instructional Leadership. Mr. Serna is a credentialed teacher in the state of California and he possesses a state Administrative Services credential as well.
