Karen D. Lloyd

Cohort 1: 2016-2017
Principal: Holy Trinity, Los Angeles

Karen Lloyd grew up in Torrance, California where she still lives today. She was introduced to Catholic schools in the fifth grade for “disciplinary reasons rather than religious ones.” Of course no one could have anticipated the changes that would come as a result of this move to Nativity School in Torrance. Karen notes that she was enchanted with stories of the saints and soon came to love the scriptures and the Catholic faith. She was baptized in 8th grade, went on to Bishop Montgomery High School and has spent the last thirty plus years trying to give back through the Church the love and grace that was so freely given to her in Catholic school.

Karen attended Cal Lutheran University where she received her Bachelor’s degree as well as her teaching credential and a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. In 2003 she completed her Masters Degree in Catholic School Administration at Loyola Marymount University as part of the first cohort of the program for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. As first a teacher and then a principal she has served her entire educational career working for the Department of Catholic Schools, serving seven different communities in four out of the five regions. In 2014 Karen became principal at Holy Trinity School, a Catholic elementary school located in the suburban Atwater Village area of Los Angeles.
